About

“Our Mission is to educate and increase consumer awareness. Helping to make “going green” a simple, gradual and affordable process. ”

E.C.C.O. stands for Environmentally Conscious Consumer Operations. As Jamaica’s premier green lifestyle magazine, ECCO provides valuable and practical steps to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle for persons who are interested in making a difference, but don’t want to compromise their lifestyle. E.C.C.O. is filled with information for the environmentally conscious consumer and those looking to make a change to a greener lifestyle.

The global impact of climate change has shifted our thinking to seek out eco-friendly, green product options. Green products and living is considered to be better for our health, our families, our homes and the earth. Consumers want to know about how they can contribute to making a difference in their lives as well as the global community, through small eco-friendly changes. E.C.C.O. aims at helping consumers gain this knowledge to make smarter eco-friendly choices while helping you save money (and who doesn’t like to save money?).

The truth is that every single thing we do every day has an impact on the planet -- good or bad. The good news is that as individuals we have the power to control most of our choices and to therefore control the impact we make. We can have a global impact by making choices on what we buy, eat, use to light our homes and how we shop or vote.

E.C.C.O. Magazine is meant to be the consumer manual to assist you in making that transition and as such we advise that the manuals be kept and re-read and reused. The magazine is a “go green” manual!

E.C.C.O. aims to make ‘going green’ the new black, fashionable and necessary. Small steps can make a big difference.

Our hope here is to demonstrate that there is a lot we can do as consumers and our attempts to go green will matter, the proof is in the results, keep reading.

CARIBBEAN ENVIRONMENT WEEK OVERVIEW:

The Caribbean faces a range of environmental challenges. We already know the problems: decline in biodiversity; waste management and our “plastic problem”; the urgent need for sustainable development, not “business as usual,” as we move towards economic growth; financing for sustainable development; and planning and designing for a more sustainable future in our urban areas. The overarching, ever-present phenomenon of climate change is having an impact on every aspect of our economy and livelihoods; is the Caribbean building sufficient resilience and placing priority on disaster preparedness?

This inaugural series of discussions aims to provoke a free flow of ideas on some of the solutions to these issues. When the week is over, we plan to have some clear pointers for further discussion, planning, and implementation, which we will present to our expert participants and followers on social media. Moving forward!
